Technical site visits – practical examples of innovative heat pump solutions
The conference will be complemented by selected technical site visits on the first day, which will give participants direct insight into current applications, technological developments and real-world implementation conditions for heat pump solutions. The excursions cover a broad spectrum – from research and industrial production to listed buildings and large-scale urban applications.
The site visits will take place on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, in the morning and afternoon. It will be possible to participate in both the workshops and the technical site visits, but the organiser will assign participants to groups.
- As part of the Lab Tour at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, participants will gain insight into current research activities and the newly opened heat pump laboratory with 100 kW capacity, supplemented by a guided tour of the RTA's climatic wind tunnel, where real environmental conditions are simulated for testing and simulation purposes.
- At Takeda, there is an innovative heat pump system with a steam-generating heat pump that is adapted for the use of natural refrigerants and combined with steam compressors to generate steam at 11 bar(a)/184 °C.
- The Tulln Town Hall, presented by IDM, illustrates the successful use of a heat pump in a listed building and the associated planning and technical challenges.
- A factory tour at Vaillant in Senica (Slovakia) offers insights into the industrial manufacturing processes, quality assurance and innovation strategies of a leading manufacturer. Important information: Please check that you have a valid visa for Slovakia if you wish to participate in this site visit. You need a valid Schengen visa for the entire Schengen area, not just for Austria.
- Further visits include a revitalised industrial building by Grötz & Co and a renovated residential building in Prechtlgasse, which exemplify how heat pump solutions can be successfully integrated into existing buildings.
Registration for technical site visits and workshops: Participation in the workshops and the site visits requires pre-registration within the conference registration process.
